Yeah, so many SEO Contest out there. What’s so special about this SEO contest? Well nothing but it is specifically for Filipinos or non-Filipinos residing in the Philippines. This is the Isulong SEOPh SEO Contest by SEO Philippines with a total of Php130,000 (~$2,450.oo) in total amount of prizes to be given away. Maybe not as lucrative as other SEO Contest, but that is a good amount already if you are living in the Philippines.

Just after 2 hours the contest was announced, almost all combinations of domains were taken already. Like isulongseoph.com was snapped away by yours truly. hehe. And after a few minutes, .net, .org, .info, and every conceivable combination, dashed and not dashed, subdomains, and putting every ounce of their creativity into it. Just because of the knowledge of the weight of consideration search engines place on domain names. Although a website can still rank high even if the targetted keywords are not in the domain name which I have had several clients with successful SEO implementations whose main knonw competitors in their line of business do not come close and surprisingly, the ones that do come close are like the totally unknown competitors in their target market and has resorted to SEO techniques as well.

But in this case, in a contest environment, you have many competitors. Everyone targetting the winning keyphrase Isulong SEOPh. So as much as possible every technique, even from the simplest techniques must be implemented just as a sprinting runner would consider a fraction of a second very important to win in this competition.

If you plan to join, me being also a contestant of the event, I believe the people that you have to take a look at what they may be up to are:

• Marc Macalua’s Girlfriend - Hehe, ‘coz she has Marc’s guidance of course. sharmskee.com is a qualified domain. Purchased within 2006 and has a PR5.
• Jonathan Casuncad - He operates SEM-Pros.com. He probably also has one of the “isulong seoph” domains and is know to give sound advice in the mailing list with his SEO/SEM knowledge proving he does know much of the industry and how it works.
• Abe Olandres - He has one of the successful blogs by a Filipino. His blog Yugatech.com has a current PR of PR5. But of course his domain is old and only domains registered this year are allowed to join. So he must have one of the isulong-seoph domains.
• Maybe it is still early to say, but Junelle Caravana’s intiendes.com is a 2006 domain name. With a bit head advantage of being live for sometime and being indexed already may give her a head start. But does not assure she can maintain that slight advantage lead.
• Elymar Apao who runs Jozzua.com has already announced in his blog comment campaigns, he owns isulong-seoph.net. When he joined the SEOPhilippines.org mailing list, he did share that he was just starting in the industry and trying things out. But I can see he is consistently learning and absorbing every knowledge he can get.
• Actually everyone can win, we never know. There are so many members of the SEOPhilippines.org mailing list, any one of them can win. Many lurking members that we never know what talents they may have. I am looking forward for a good contest. I love games every since I was a kid, Sorry, Monopoly, Clue, Mastermind, Card Games, Games of the Generals, Connect Four, Scrabble, Boggle, everything. I like. And my favorite competitor was my late father who had an analytical mind that I believe I never have surpassed.
